DEPARTURE LOUNGE - FLIGHT NO. SEVEN

Life is like an airport
With only two destinations
Our luggage is our hearts
And our tickets are “one way only”

One boarding gate is made of gold
And angels stand at the ready
They welcome you warmly into the hold
And make sure your flight is steady

The other gate is made of coal
And it smolders black and ashy
And demons jeer and prance around
They don’t care that their gate is trashy.

While you sit in the departure lounge
Your luggage is packed and marked for flight no. seven
You sit and eagerly await the announcement
For passengers to board the one way trip to heaven

You notice another traveler in the lounge
He sits a few seats down from you
He doesn’t seem excited; in fact he looks quite blue
His ticket lies beside him and his weary head rests in his hands

You peer to see his destination
But his ticket is not marked
And you wonder why he’s sitting there
With his luggage in a cart.

Suddenly your heart is heavy
As the truth becomes quite clear
He has not yet decided where he's going
And now his last chance is here.

You know the destination
For those who don’t chose God
And you are his one last chance
Before the flight to heaven is gone

You decide to share the gospel
And tell him of God’s love
Because you cannot go on your way
Knowing you could have helped just one

He listens as you speak to him
Too weary to try to flee
And when you prompt him to pray with you
He sinks heavily to his knees

You take his hand in yours
And pray the repentance prayer
He gives his live to Jesus
And accepts His gift of life right there.

When you both rise to sit once more
Your eye catches a golden shimmer from his ticket
And you whoop with joy when you read it
It says: “Flight no.7 – One way to heaven”

So search your heart dear reader
What is written on your ticket?
Is your luggage packed and ready?
And will you go through the golden gate?

Have you spread God’s love
To all that you encounter?
And are you sure of your destination
If this were your final hour?
